Rampage: Season 2 (2025) continues the dramatic and eye-catching journey after the resounding success of the first part. With the return of action star Dwayne Johnson as Davis Okoye - biologist and close friend of mutant gorilla George - the second part expands the chaotic, dangerous world when new genetic threats begin to emerge.
This part is set two years after the city of Chicago was saved from destruction by three giant creatures. George now lives in a secret, government-sponsored, strictly monitored sanctuary. However, an international covert organization - named "GeneX" - has stolen gene-editing technology to create a series of mutant creatures for military purposes and global biological domination. When new giant creatures suddenly appear and cause disasters in major cities such as Tokyo, Berlin, and Cape Town, Davis is forced to reunite with George and a team of scientists to find the source of the conspiracy and prevent a global disaster.
Rampage: Season 2 not only enhances the action with more modern and spectacular effects, but also delves into the emotional element between humans and monsters. The relationship between Davis and George is clearly portrayed, showing a friendship that transcends species boundaries. In addition, the film also introduces some notable new characters, especially Dr. Emma Tran - a Vietnamese geneticist played by Kelly Marie Tran - who plays a key role in decoding the mystery of mutant genes.
Director Brad Peyton skillfully combines action, science fiction and human elements to create an attractive sequel. The battles between new monsters such as “Razorwolf” – a wolf with shark-like spines – or “Vulkraken” – a giant underwater creature – keep viewers glued to the screen. In addition, the music composed by Steve Jablonsky also contributes to the film’s pace, creating a dramatic and continuously suspenseful atmosphere.
