The Wolverine 2

The Wolverine 2 (also known as Logan, released in 2017) is the sequel to The Wolverine (2013) and is also the final part that concludes the journey of the character Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman. This is not just a regular superhero movie, but also an emotional film, full of human and tragic elements, leaving a deep impression on the audience.

The Wolverine 2 is set in 2029, when mutants are almost extinct, and Logan - who was once invincible and had super-fast recovery - is now old, weak and living in seclusion. He makes a living as a hired driver and takes care of Professor X, who is suffering from a neurodegenerative disease. Logan's world changes when he meets Laura - a mutant girl with his own bloodline, and possesses the same strength and claws as him. She is the result of a gene cloning project, being pursued by the people who control this program.

What makes The Wolverine 2 so special is not only the thrilling action scenes, but also the psychological depth of the character. Logan is no longer the immortal superhero as before, but a man with a lot of suffering, both physically and mentally scarred. He lives in loss, torment and always avoids the past. The meeting with Laura is an opportunity for him to face himself and find the meaning of life.

The film was directed by James Mangold in a Western style, dark and full of contemplation. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine gave an excellent, emotional and genuine performance, helping the audience feel the pain and sacrifice of the character. Not only a battle for survival, The Wolverine 2 is also a story about fatherhood, sacrifice and humanity in the dark world.

At the end of the film, Logan falls in a final battle to protect Laura and other mutant children. His death was not tragic but liberating, a worthy end for a hero who had dedicated his whole life. The Wolverine 2 is therefore not just a simple superhero movie, but also an emotional epic, a complete end to the 17-year journey of the iconic character Wolverine.
