Another Me (2013)

Another Me (2013), directed by Isabel Coixet and adapted from the novel of the same name by Catherine MacPhail, is a psychological horror film with a mysterious color, deeply exploring the obsession with ego, skepticism and loss of control of human beings. With the participation of Sophie Turner in the main role, the film has brought a dramatic and haunting story.

The film revolves around the character Fay Delussey - a high school girl whose life seems normal until she feels that a mysterious "clone" is following and gradually replacing her life. Strange things begin to happen: friends and teachers mistake her for someone else, her mother becomes cold and distant, while her father is seriously ill, causing Fay even more pressure and panic. The cracks in her psychology and feelings of insecurity put Fay in a state of crisis, not knowing what is real and what is an illusion.

The film cleverly incorporates spiritual and psychological elements to create a dark and haunting atmosphere. Dark scenes, cold camera angles and creepy sounds contribute to the suspense. Sophie Turner's performance is highly appreciated when she shows the psychological transformation from a normal girl to fear, confusion and gradually losing control. The presence of the "second person" - a copy but more terrifying, becomes a symbol of the inner obsessions that she cannot escape.

One of the profound messages that Another Me brings is facing oneself - with the flaws, mistakes and dark sides of the soul that people often avoid. The film raises the question: is the scariest thing the outside world, or the true self inside that we always try to hide?

Although not too outstanding in terms of script or plot complexity, Another Me still leaves its mark thanks to the way it builds a thrilling atmosphere and personal fears. This is a suitable work for those who love the genre of psychological horror that is gentle but full of metaphors and contemplation.
